The 25th Year Begins

For over two decades, the Akkas, Annas, and admin staff at LLA have been the quiet backbone of this Institute. They keep every part of the space in order, feed us, care for us, and make sure things run smoothly — all with a generosity that’s hard to put into words. Their presence is felt in every corner of LLA, every single day.

Conceptual Product Photography

At this stage in their journey, students at Light & Life Academy have already learnt how to light different surfaces, control reflections, and handle the technical complexities and aesthetic aspects of product photography.

Printing with Sunlight

Batch 24 students were in for a special surprise after returning from their portfolio shoots — a workshop on cyanotype by Shawn J Stephen.The session began with a class on the history of the cyanotype process and the many ways it can be used to create prints.

Fine Art Photography

Batch 24 students were introduced to the expansive world of fine art photography through an interactive workshop conducted by Varun Gupta. Students explored the conceptual and narrative potential of photography through photobooks, visual storytelling, and creative editing.

Architecture Photography

The Architecture and Interior Photography specialisation was conducted by Moshin Taha. This year, the space shot was the Light & Life campus itself.

Food & Beverage Photography

The Food & Beverage Photography demos at Light & Life Academy are designed to introduce students to a wide range of shots—across lighting setups and food types—while helping them understand what works best for each subject. It’s an in-depth look at how a professional food and beverage shoot is planned and executed.

Fashion Photography

The Fashion Photography Specialisation marks both a culmination of learning and the beginning of a new approach for students at Light & Life Academy.

Batch 24 Goes Aerial

For many students of Batch 24, the drone photography module was their first-ever experience flying a drone. The Nilgiris, with its clear skies and excellent visibility, provided the perfect backdrop.The module began with a classroom session, where students learned the fundamentals of aerial photography and the technical know-how required to operate a drone. This was followed by a hands-on demo, giving each student the chance to take control and fly the drone themselves.

Lateral Thinking Workshop

At LLA, the journey to becoming a visual communicator goes beyond mastering photography techniques. Integrated into the core curriculum are sessions designed to broaden perspectives and nurture well-rounded creatives. The Lateral Thinking Workshop with Mr. Gangadharan Menon was one such session.

My Radio My Life

Throughout the academic year, we aim to broaden our students’ horizons by offering them a variety of perspectives and experiences. We believe that the more they engage with, the better equipped they are to discover their own path, strengths, and what truly resonates with them.

Dussehra 2024

Dussehra 2024Festival celebrations at LLA are always a highlight of the year! Students show up in their festive best, looking nothing like they usually do – both in spirit and style. With music filling the air, it doesn’t take long before students break into spontaneous dance.

Exploring Villages of Nilgiris

The Nilgiris isn’t just a place; it’s an experience. The warmth and kindness of its people make the Nilgiris extra special (don’t be surprised if you’re greeted with tea, biscuits, or even a hearty meal!). At LLA, we take every opportunity to explore the local villages, helping students connect with the vibrant cultures and stories that make this region so extraordinary.

Jamal Mohamed College, Trichy, recently visited us to get a taste of what it’s like to study photography at Light & Life Academy. They had no idea what a photography college looks like or what goes on in one, so we gave them the LLA experience!
